Scope

Quiet Balance is a general-wellness calorie and nutrition tracker intended for adults. It is not a medical service.

Information we process

Foods, portions, nutrition values, recipes, notes, water, weight, goals, preferences, favorites and reminders are stored locally on your device by default.

If you create an account, our authentication provider processes your email address, authentication records and user ID. If a Premium user explicitly creates a backup, an encrypted-in-transit snapshot is uploaded to that account. Backup is not automatic.

Security services may process IP address, coarse location inferred from IP, device or browser class and event time for security, rate limiting and fraud prevention. Quiet Balance does not request device location permission.

When a Premium user requests an AI estimate, the chosen meal photo, typed description or recorded voice clip is sent through our secured server to an AI provider. The result is an editable proposal and is not saved automatically.

Food search terms may be sent to USDA FoodData Central and scanned barcode numbers to Open Food Facts. Camera frames used for barcode detection are not saved by Quiet Balance.

Apple or Google processes payments. Our subscription provider receives product, entitlement, store and expiration status. Quiet Balance does not receive full payment-card details.

Optional coarse product analytics is off by default. If enabled, Supabase and our operator-controlled Orbit dashboard receive a random app-install ID and limited events such as first launch, app sessions and duration, feature use and subscription lifecycle with USD list price. They do not receive the account user ID. Events exclude food names, search text, notes, email, barcodes, body weight and nutrition values. We do not use data for targeted advertising.

Purposes and legal bases

We process information to provide requested features, restore optional backups, manage paid access, secure the service, prevent abuse and diagnose failures. Depending on location, the legal basis is performance of the requested service, consent for optional uploads and analytics, legitimate interests in security and reliability, and legal obligations.

Retention, export and deletion

Local data remains until you delete it, clear app storage or uninstall the app. A cloud snapshot remains until replaced or the cloud account is deleted. You can export local app data as JSON at no charge.

Account deletion removes the authentication account and linked cloud records. Store subscriptions and transaction records remain with Apple or Google; billing must be canceled separately in store settings. See the account-deletion instructions.

Providers and transfers

The service may use Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Supabase, OpenAI, Sentry, the operator-controlled Orbit analytics dashboard, USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts. Their processing locations may differ from your country and are governed by applicable provider and contractual controls.

Security

Quiet Balance uses local device storage, encrypted network transport, row-level database policies, server-only secrets, authenticated server functions, rate limits and least-privilege controls. No system can guarantee absolute security.

Children and sensitive situations

Quiet Balance is not directed to people under 18. People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, using insulin, managing diet-sensitive conditions or affected by an eating disorder should use qualified professional guidance and stop tracking if it becomes harmful.
